Myoora Homestead Hostel is set in established gardens providing a perfect rural setting. The gardens include a gazebo and an internal courtyard for residents and families to enjoy.
The hostel is a short walk from the main street of Henty. With a population of 1,200 Henty is an attractive rural town situated midway between Albury and Wagga Wagga. There is a strong community connection between residents of Myoora and the community. Residents are encouraged to maintain their independence and access the town’s services and resources.
The hostel has accommodation for 19 permanent residents and 1 respite resident. Myoora prides itself on having a homely feel with home-cooked meals enjoyed in the dining room.
The living and entertainment areas are on one level allowing easy access and mobility. Families and friends are encouraged to enjoy the dining experience either in the dining room or in the library room.
Residents rooms have an en-suite and most provide direct access to the gardens. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with touches from home. There are tea and coffee making facilities if desired by the residents and residents are encouraged to have visitors.
The Hostel provides 24 hour care by trained staff. The hostel is joined to the new Henty Hospital which enhances the care given.
Our philosophy is to provide caring and compassionate person-centred care. Staff convey compassion, kindness, respect and honesty in their interactions with residents and in their work. Myoora has a strong focus on encouraging residents to be as independent as possible whilst respecting their dignity and integrity. Staff and volunteers from the local community support the Activities program by giving residents opportunities for group and individual interaction.
Residents can take part in daily activities from a calendar of events organised by the staff and volunteers. Activities include outings to neighbouring towns, Tai Chi classes, falls prevention and exercise classes and visits by Red Cross volunteers.
- Doctor, podiatrist, hairdresser and masseuse services are available on the premises on a regular basis.
- The hostel is serviced by a Registered Nurse five days a week, with friendly caring staff available 24 hours.
- All food is cooked on the premises with combined kitchen and dining room.
- Call buttons are installed in both the bedrooms and bathrooms of the rooms and trained staff are able to respond.
- Linked with the local hospital for any medical treatment/assessment required.
- The Montessori approach to ageing is used – promoting independence, self-esteem, choice and meaningful activity through the recognition of residents’ individual strengths, needs and interests.

Refundable Accommodation Deposit – $220,000.
This is also determined by the ‘Permanent Residential Aged Care Request for Combined Assets and Income Assessment’ through the Department of Health.
